The Sunday Morning Slasher
American serial murderer "The Sunday Morning Slasher," Carl Eugene Watts (November 7, 1953–September 21, 2007), also known as Coral, was born in the United States. Watts is suspected of having murdered over 100 women, making him one of the most notorious serial murderers in American history. He was granted amnesty for a dozen murders due to a plea agreement with the prosecution in 1982. At one point, it appeared as though he might be released in 2006. He later passed away from prostate cancer on September 21, 2007, while serving two life sentences without the possibility of release in a Michigan prison for the brutal murders of Gloria Steele and Helen Dutcher.
Life Before Crime
Watts was born to Richard Eugene Watts and Dorothy Mae Young in Killeen, Texas. His mother was a kindergarten art teacher, and his father served as a private first class in the Army. His parents divorced when he was a year old, and his mother raised him. In 1962, Dorothy married a mechanic named Norman Caesar, with whom she had two kids, and settled in Inkster, Michigan. After his parents divorce he started spending a lot of time with his grandmother. He stayed with his grandmother for a while, after his mother relocated to Detroit. She told the Houston Chronicle that Carl was fond of hunting and skinning rabbits, even as a young child. He was left with learning impairment at a young age due to Meningitis and high fevers.
